Several places will take your Amazon gift cards and give you money in return. That way, you can put the money to good use instead of sitting with a gift card you may never use.
Here is a list of some well known-places where you can get money for your Amazon gift cards.
1. Raise
Raise is a site that buys gift cards so that they can resell them to others. When you use Raise, you hit the “sell gift cards” tab at the top of the page.
Then enter the name of your gift card and hit the “get started” button. From there, Raise will give you your offer price and help you with the selling process.
After you hit the “get started” button, you’ll get asked to enter the card’s serial number, pin and dollar amount. The site will auto-fill the selling amount, but you can adjust it as you see fit.
Raise will then show you how much money you’ll get after they take their commission. After you accept their offer, they’ll pay you via Direct Deposit, PayPal or check.
At times, Raise will only accept Amazon or certain other store gift cards from select sellers. If you get this message, you may want to contact the company to find out what terms you need to meet to become a select seller.
2. GiftCardBin
GiftCardBin lets you sell gift cards by bringing them into a partner store location. They used to buy gift cards online from U.S. residents, but the website says this is no longer an option.
When I checked the GiftCardBin website, they had partner store locations throughout the United States. Use the site’s store locator tool to find partner stores near you.
The website isn’t specific on how much cash you can get for your gift cards or what gift cards they do and don’t buy. It only says you can sell your gift cards and get fast cash.
To get specific details, you’ll have to visit a store location.
3. Gift Card Spread (GC Spread)
Gift Card Spread buys gift cards by letting you submit an offer price. When you visit the site, you’ll enter the name of the retailer, the value of the card and your “offer to sell” price.
Within 24 hours, Gift Card Spread will get back to you with one of two options. They’ll accept your offer price, or they’ll give you a counteroffer.
Once you have an agreed upon price, you need to get your Amazon gift card to Gift Card Spread. If you have an electronic gift card, you can simply submit the card information on the GC Spread website.
If you have a physical plastic gift card, you can mail it to their office in Chicago. The site says that once they receive your card or card details, they’ll pay you as soon as they verify the card.
Gift Card Spread makes payments for gift cards via ACH deposit into your bank account.
4. SaveYa
With SaveYa, you can list your Amazon gift card for sale and set your price. They also have an instant buy program for gift cards. But they weren’t accepting Amazon gift cards for that program at the time of this writing.
When you list your gift card for sale with SaveYa, they’ll notify you when it sells. After your gift card sells, you ship it to the buyer.
When SaveYa and USPS verify that the buyer receives the shipment, they’ll release your money to you.
You can choose to get paid via a mailed check or PayPal.
5. Reddit
Reddit is mostly known as a question and answer forum. However, they do have a barter/trading component to their site as well.
If there is something you need or want, you may be able to trade your Amazon gift card in exchange for that item on Reddit.
Maybe someone has a gift card to sell for a store you need or want to buy from, like Walmart. Perhaps they are trading a product such as a video game. Or for a service such as editing or writing services.
Note that the Reddit bartering page is an “own your own” site. But they do offer a page with trading guidelines that can help you avoid getting involved with scammers.
However, it’s up to you to use the trading precautions Reddit recommends.
6. Card Kangaroo
Selling your Amazon gift card on Card Kangaroo is super easy. All you have to do is visit the Card Kangaroo website and hit the large “Sell Your Gift Cards” button on the home page.
After that, the site will direct you to enter the name of the retailer and the amount of the gift card. Then you’ll get an instant buy offer.
If you accept the dollar amount Card Kangaroo is offering you, you’ll click on the “Submit” button. From there, you follow the directions to send in your gift card.
Card Kangaroo pays out via mailed check or PayPal.
7. Purse
Purse is a cryptocurrency site that helps you to get Bitcoin. If you have an Amazon gift card, you can sell it to another Purse user in exchange for Bitcoin.
You start by going to the “Earn” section on Purse. Find an offer you want to accept, and then take it and purchase the Bitcoin.
Complete the order following the instructions on the Purse website. Now you’ve got Bitcoin to use to make online purchases through Purse. You can save up to 20% when you sell your Amazon gift card on the Purse website.
8. Craigslist
One option for selling locally is to advertise your Amazon gift card on Craigslist. Depending on the area you live in, selling Amazon and other gift cards on Craigslist might be quite popular.
In my city, there is a lot of gift card buying and selling activity. When selling your gift card on Craigslist and similar sites, be sure to exercise proper safety precautions.
Meet your buyer in a public place such as a coffee shop. Be sure to bring your laptop or another mobile device. Do this is because your buyer will likely want to verify that the gift card you’re selling is valid.
Another tip is to consider insisting on cash from your buyer. Taking a personal check, money order or cashier’s check might be risky as those items can be fraudulent.
Also, whenever buying or selling locally, let a loved one know where you’re going and when you expect to be back.
9. eBay
Another option for selling your gift card is to list it for sale on eBay. eBay is a popular site for selling Amazon and other gift cards.
At any given time, you can check eBay and find thousands of gift cards for sale. Interestingly, some gift cards even sell for above face value.
Keep in mind that if you sell your gift card on eBay, you will pay a 10% valuation fee on the final sale price. This fee will be charged to you later at the end of the billing month or beginning of the next billing month.
It is important to keep this fee in mind as you set your selling price or starting bid amount. Also, keep in mind that if you have a physical gift card to sell, you’ll have to include a shipping price.
Or you can raise the price of your card and offer free shipping. eBay can be a nice option for selling gift cards because of the worldwide audience reach and trusted eBay name.
10. Facebook
If you choose to sell your gift card on Facebook, you’ve got two options. The first is by posting your offering as a regular post. You share what you’ve got and what you want to get for it with your Facebook followers.
If you advertise in this manner, you’ll reach an audience consisting of all followers. In addition, you could ask them to share the post and reach additional people.
Your second option is to post the gift card and what you want to sell it for on Facebook Marketplace. One benefit of Facebook Marketplace is that it’s free to buy and sell on. Plus, it has a large audience.
You have to have a Facebook account to buy or sell on Facebook Marketplace. So a third benefit of selling on Facebook Marketplace is that you can see the profiles of anyone interested in buying your gift card.
This feature might make for a more secure selling transaction for you. Know that this is a do-it-yourself sell/buy option. If someone is interested in your Amazon gift card, they’ll contact you via Facebook.
From there, you arrange the meetup details and payment options with your buyer.
11. Ask Family and Friends
Another choice for selling your Amazon gift card is to ask family and close friends. I’ve done this multiple times. Simply explain that you have a gift card you don’t need, and ask family and friends if they’re interested in buying it.
Send a group email if you’d like to make the process easier. Or go to someone you know will like the deal and shops at Amazon a lot.
For instance, my brother shops at Amazon often. So I usually contact him first when I have an Amazon gift card to sell. I offer him a discount, and we negotiate a price from there.
He loves getting the deal on the gift card, and I can sell my Amazon gift cards fast and at a good price. In other words, it’s a win-win for both of us.
If you have loved ones that love to shop on Amazon, contact them about buying your Amazon gift cards at a discount. You might be able to get a bigger profit than if you sell it to one of the gift card purchase sites mentioned here.
12. Regift the Card
Although regifting the card isn’t technically selling it, you do get a 100% return on your money. For instance, let’s say you’ve got an Amazon gift card for $25.
If you’re planning to give your brother a $25 gift for his birthday, you’ll save $25 if you give him the Amazon gift card instead.
Then you can take the cash you were going to use to buy his birthday gift and use it as you please.
Many people shop at Amazon these days. So regifting your Amazon gift card could be a good option for saving or making cash.
13. Gameflip
Gameflip is a site that allows you to buy and sell video games and video game supplies. Plus, they also allow you to sell Amazon gift cards on the site.
According to the site, selling Amazon gift cards there is easy. First, you list the item for sale. After you get a buyer and verify the payment, you ship the gift card.
Gameflip credits the proceeds to your account. Then you can use them to buy Gameflip items or request payout to your PayPal account. Also, they’ll send your payment via a bank account direct deposit too. Or you can get Bitcoin for your earnings.
Note that Gameflip takes what they term a “small fee” from your sales proceeds. The fee paid by the seller is 8% for physical listings, and 10% for digital listings. They deduct this fee from the listing price before they transfer the funds to the seller’s account.
14. SellMeGiftCard
SellMeGiftCard is a site that offers to buy Amazon gift cards. Using the site is easy. You start by entering your gift card amount and some information on the site. They’ll give you an immediate offer purchase price for the card.
After you agree to the offer, SellMeGiftCard gives you instructions on how to submit the rest of the card’s information so you can get paid. This site pays you via PayPal as soon as they verify your card information.
Note: If you like to shop on Amazon, this site promises discounts on your Amazon order. Just paste the Amazon URL of the product you want into the SellMeGiftCard site and get your discounted price offer.
When I put the URL for a pair of pants I recently bought from Amazon into the SellMyGiftCard site, I learned I could’ve gotten a six percent discount.
Other Ways to Put Your Amazon Gift Card to Good Use
Many times, when you sell your Amazon gift card, you’ll be taking a discount. Lots of places and sites that buy gift cards buy them for less than face value.
If you want to get your full money’s worth for your Amazon gift card, why not use it to buy stuff you need on Amazon?
Amazon sells a wide variety of personal items and groceries. Why not use it to purchase items you know you’ll need and get your money’s worth?
Another option would be to donate your gift card. Sites such as giftcards4change.com help you donate your Amazon gift card to a worthy cause.
The site raises money to help feed and clothe children in need, help the homeless and more. If you want to use your unwanted Amazon gift card to do good, this might be the way to go.
A third option might be to use your Amazon gift card to cover another expense. For instance, you could use it to pay your child for doing chores around the house.
Or you could pay a babysitter or pet sitter with an Amazon gift card instead of cash. I only recommend this if the gift card is worth more than the actual money you’d pay them and if they’re excited about the deal.
If they love shopping on Amazon and will get more value than what you’d pay them in cash, they might like that option.
